BETTER JOBS. MORE SECURE FUTURES.
A JOB CREATOR WITH A PLAN FOR MORE
Tom understands how challenging it can be to find good-paying jobs. He worked on shipping docks, factory floors, and tire shops before earning his way to the leadership of a major public utility company, where he has been paying it forward as a job creator for years.
As your State Representative, he will hit the ground running with relevant experience, connections, and skills to bring better jobs, better wages, and more economic security to South Philadelphians.
CHIEF OF JOBS: A NEW WAY TO MAKE REAL CHANGE
On Tom’s first day in office, Tom will appoint a Chief of Jobs, whose sole responsibility will be to connect the talented, hard-working people of South Philly to more jobs and opportunities for economic growth. As a well-respected member of the labor and business communities, Tom knows that there are thousands of unfilled jobs in Philadelphia.
As your State Representative, he and his Chief of Jobs will match hard-working people with job-training programs that lead directly to family-sustaining jobs.
WAGE PROTECTION: AN INNOVATIVE PLAN TO PROTECT YOUR FINANCES
In the past decade, too many people, through no fault of their own, have been forced out of their careers and into lower-paying jobs. As your State Representative, Tom will champion a wage-protection program that supplements these individuals’ income during such challenging transitions. This wage-protection program will be paid for by a severance tax on big shale drillers, who, unfairly, pay $0 for extracting Pennsylvania’s natural resources.
LIFELONG LEARNING AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
Tom knows that today's rapidly changing economy requires people to learn new skills throughout their lives. As your State Representative, he will pass legislation that creates tax-free savings accounts for workers that can be applied to ongoing job training and education expenses. This will give people the financial capacity to transition to more lucrative positions in this ever-changing economy.
TOM WON'T STOP THERE
As your State Representative, Tom will also support:
- A $15 minimum wage.
- Increased workforce development funding.
- More training for jobs in the technical and trades sectors.
- Fairer tax structures that incentivize business development.
South Philadelphians just want a fair chance to earn a good living for their families. As your State Representative, Tom Wyatt will work tirelessly to make that happen.
